Artisan Baker Association

ABA is an Australian baking association.

ABA are independent of mainstream industry and are not members of BMIAA Bread Manufacturers Industry Association of Australia or any other manufacturer group.

Remaining independent is very important for ABA. The bakers we work with are autonomous and just want to bake good bread without worrying about industry agendas.

Let's face it. To make good bread you simply need flour, water, salt, a mixing bench and an oven. Compare that to the hype and excess of the modern baking industry, represented in industry publications and trade shows.

Industry powerplays distract from the art of baking: Artisan Baker Association (ABA) are currently defending themselves from an aggressive marketing push by BMIAA to rebrand "ABA" as their own. See the ABA Trademark Page

If you want to make good bread and be part of a fantastic baking community, avoid industry hype at all costs. Go straight to the artisan bread baking forum at Sourdough Companion (owned and operated by ABA), or Dan Lepard's fantastic baking forum based in the UK.

Seek advice from passionate people, including inspired home bakers and enthusiasts who conduct there own research and are interested in the wellbeing of the people they are baking for.

Forget the hype, it is just you and the leaven, and the love of baking.
